I purchased this note in 2012. It was in a box of coins that have been packed for years. It’s an 1863 $.50 CSA Note. It’s printed on what is called pink paper. The number of the bill is cataloged as T-63.

The center is a bust of the President of the Confederacy, Jefferson Davis. A total of 1,831,517 of these bills were issued. Instead of hand written serial numbers the serial number is in the Red Confederate Ink and it’s Treasury Stamped on the bill.

As usual, the reverse in blank. This was done in an effort to save on printing costs.

The price on these CSA Notes continues to rise. This is considered a common note so lower end price wise but in the 9 years I’ve had it, it’s gone up in value.

Some of my rarer CSA Notes are worth 2-3 times what I paid for them and I’ve had this bill longer. 2 more on the way in 2-3 weeks.

I should mention that this has a fold but no pinholes. Minted by Amber and Daly, Richmond Virginia.

I like the older and the Buffalo Nickels but I just love the CSA Notes. There’s real history there. I’m posting a new one shortly.
