This is a strange sort of MD - only the bottom of the letters seem to have been shelved, and in some cases it almost looks like there are three gradation(?) levels. No other doubling seems to occur on the rest of the reverse. Should I just chalk this up to die deterioration?

For the record, I checked for glue this time. :hilarious:

Just odd, was wondering what type of distortion this was.

    Opinions welcome - thanks.

It appears to be MD. MD on incused lettering appears different since devices on the working die is raised. It doesn’t take much movement to double or triple the devices on the coin.

Honestly, yes...this is die deterioration doubling to incused lettering and numerals.

Hmm, am I maybe just seeing an optical illusion because the letters are incused deeper towards the rim?
