I am curious: Who started coin talk? When was it started? How many members are there as of today? How many admins are there and who are they? Do the banner ads I see totaly support this forum? I think with as many members as there probably is, why is coin talk not in Wikipidia The reason I ask these questions is, because of the size and knowledge this forum presents, I know little about it's beginning, especially since I just joined this year. As many of you do, I visit other forums unrelated to coins and think that this community, abliet with a few guys that are a pickle short of a barrel, this is a pretty good group.
1. I believe it would be Peter 2. 2002? I believe, could have been earlier, you'd have to ask Peter on that one, or somebody who has been here since the beginning. 3. 9598 (Got it from members list) 4.Administrators are Doug, and the founder, Peter. The mods are jody526, De Orc, zaneman, The_Cave_Troll, and Speedy, 5. I would say they would... The Penny Lady, Lost_Dutchman, and Arizona Jack (although that is not current as he is taking a break) As for the other banner ads, I don't know who they are from. 6. NO IDEA!
Nice question but I'm afraid it can't be answered. The site was created in an empty and desolate area called Area 51. If you ask many more question, a guy named Guido may show up at your door. He likes to break digits.
According to Peter Davis (founder? and owner of CT) back on 8/11/2009 there were 20,000 Members Strong! BTW, Peter was away for some time after that and still seems to be AWOL... any news on him? Those who don't know him can find a lot about him on his various websites via his profile and Google name search. An interesting and entrepreneurial guy!
#6... you could add a new Wiki page yourself and start getting contributions to it to define CT. [p.s this is post number six of this thread... queue Twilight Zone music]
I think the members list only includes people who have posted, which means some 11,000 people haven't posted.
At 11:44pm on December 3,2009 there were 253 on CT(44 members and 209 guests) The most users ever online was 643, 03-17-2008 at 11:28 PM What was happening March 17, 2008 to bring so many members online CT?
Peter T Davis Sept. 2002 New ones every day, current number is listed near the bottom of the Index page. 1, me. But it's just a title, and like most titles doesn't really mean a thing. Peter really does all the work, I just talk a lot. No, not even close. Peter pays the bills out of his own pocket. Has even sold his coin collection to provide funds to keep it going. Why should it be ??
Doug, I'm sure it's somewhere up above under some of the tabs, but would you tell us where we should send Peter a donation for CT support? Thanks
The question of why CT should be in Wikipedia is simple. It does no harm and it's free. If I'm not mistaken this is probably the largest forum on our little hobby. So there is some contribution to this world from the members. This thing is not a shot in the dark, it has influence. I have seen forums mentioned for some of the gaming I do with far less members mentioned in Wiki. So why not CT? It could then be used as a link for other articles mentioned in Wiki. Might drum up a little coin as well, IMHO.
Have at it then. Anybody and everybody can write and/or contribute to what is already written on Wiki.
Thanks for backing up the Wiki idea Doug. I also suggested the collective contribution to Wiki in post #6. :thumb:
