    It ain't Cameo or DCAM...

It ain't a cool Mint Error...

It ain't a valuable Die Variety...

But man...is this thing just drop-dead gorgeous.

And I wanted to share it with you:

Whewww... nice! I love the way the late die state coins look with all those beautiful striations :)

I think it's going to need to join my upcoming NGC submission (which I should send in soon if I want it back by the end of the year, apparently...)

Really a nice piece, hardly a mark on her. Show her off
when she gets back from NGC.

    Very attractive, but....

    [sorry]

are those marks on the reverse shield?

    I hope not

No worries - the coin is what it is (and I don't take it personally if you see something that catches your eye).

So, I'm admittedly not an expert at distinguishing planchet flaws with minor contact marks. I thought maybe I could take a couple closeups of the eagle and see if it shows enough for you to tell. Personally, with a 10x loupe none of them look like hits - but that's just me "doing my best." I think some of what you're seeing is the light over-reflecting off them (they don't look nearly as bad in hand.)

    Again, I'm not an expert.

A few bag marks but not enough to distract from it's natural beauty, I too would like to see the TPG result. You've got a winner in my opinion, good luck.

I'm just curious about how you found this jewel. I've got tons that look good, most of which came from my father's collection, but none that have your coin's presence. It will stand up in a crowd.
By the way..what is "SMS". I've seen it but never followed it to see what it is?

Should come back at MS65 minimum. Nice eye!

The lack of marks on other high points of the eagle makes me think most of those are rough planchet marks not fully struck out.

Great looking coin, and I agree with Razz, the large flat area at the top of the shield is virtually pristine.

This might be an uninformed thing to say, but this coin compares very favorably with the 68's imaged on the PCGS Price Guide page...am I being a bit too optimistic?

Yes, far too optimistic. . It will grade 66-67. TPGs are tough on those coins.
