So, is the mint producing tokens for private industry now, or is Canadian Tire sponsoring a form of NCLT?
The mint has actually made tokens or medals for private industry several times before. These are tokens, only valid at Canadian Tire stores.
Well after seeing the pics of the canadian tire piece , I have to say that I don't really care to pick one up anymore. On a side note the royal mint are also the ones that minted the new Olympic medals
I know its getting toward winter up north. But, tire coins? You guys are gonna have a LONGGGGG winter. Happy ice fishing. Traci
we always had Canadian tire money, this is just the first coin. It's just a fidelity program like flier points or air miles.. you buy 20$ of gas , you get like 35 cents in Canadian tire money.
actually no Krispy they took months to figure out how to properly mint them to look like that. all the medals are different shapes and use different parts of the original painting as the design.
the warped-look to the coin conveys an somewhat unnatural shape for the medal, or one that's 'arranged' chaotically as if resulting from some sort of 'destruction' or damage. in designer fashion sometimes intentionally distressed fabrics or mismatched colors, symmetry or other rough effects are employed to recall, in the fashion of destruction or la mode destroy.
When I heard the word 'Tire Coin', I though it was either a coin in the shape of a tire, or a coin made with the material from a tire. I figure there are coins made from spent ammunition and other unique materials so why not this. People who collect tokens should find this one interesting. ~Daniel
