Anyone Sell Coins of eBay?

If so, I'm wondering what your thoughts are about eBay's new payment policy: bypassing Paypal, holding onto your money for 3 or 4 days and then depositing it into your bank account.

I sold a coin today. eBay said that I need to ship it by tomorrow. But I won't receive the payment for it until later this week. So I have to send the coin out and hope that eBay sends me the money. (I've already dropped the coin off at the post office.)

I have always shipped orders within one business day of receiving payment. I'm not too thrilled about having to ship coins before I receive payment for them, and I'm thinking of changing my shipping time to, say, one week to account for this delay along with an explanation in my listing stating "Orders will be shipped within one business day after I receive your payment. eBAY HOLDS ONTO YOUR MONEY FOR 3 OR 4 DAYS BEFORE GIVING IT TO ME, so most orders will ship within 4 or 5 business days after you've paid for it."

Anyone else grappling with what to do about this new policy?

Yes, I have and decided to check out another alternative. I've been looking at by-passing ebay all together and have been looking into Square online and they charge only 3%, much better deal than ebay. Check out the free option and you can even use your own domain with the paid version.

Ebay is the only place I sell coins and it's been okay (except for all the seller and listing fees) But let me tell you, I HATE their new policy that you mentioned, I think it is stupid. I liked having it in my Paypal account where I could decide when to deposit it to my bank account and however much I wanted at any given time... idiots.
I have still been using ebay for the last few weeks, even with this new policy and the payments have been coming thru fine with no trouble and always on schedule but I just don't like not being able to control it as much :confused:
I will continue to use ebay until I find a better alternative but I'm not super enthused about it...

No but I'm a huge buyer and never have had any problems or bad purchases.

That will be fine until they get big enough to act like eBay.

The delay is unfortunate, but not prohibitively so. And PayPal is a pain... though they are one more layer of protection. And eBay does have a miserable reputation when it comes to seller protection.
I think we've all been waiting for another more innovative platform to come along... but where is our knight in shining armor?

Eh, it's alright. I don't really need the money instantly, and have never had any issues with eBay sending me the money when its ready.

What I do not like about the new policies of ebay is giving them direct access to my bank account; i trust paypal, not ebay.

Not a fan, not a huge paypal fan either but the holding payment among other things has lead to finding better alternatives for a lot of stuff.

Doesn't make a difference. Make a new checking account and keep the minimum in it and link that. That’s how everyone should be with any online linked banked account

I'm not scheduled for "managed Payments" until May 21st. From what they said I will not get charged the 3% paypal fee. I do not sell as much as I used to on eBay, but the last couple months I have sold some silver. I do like the immediate access to the money paypal gives me, not decided if I'm gonna stop selling after May 21st or not.

    I thought eBay owned PayPal.

I've got enough for 1-2 good sales left, and then I'm honestly probably tapping out. Between rising buyers fees, more competition to get sale stock,, more fakes on ebay, eBay forcing buyers to charge sales tax, and now the new policy...

I'm thinking I'd be better off if I just throw in the towel on flipping coins and just save up for fewer, better purchases.

You can still pay with Paypal, but if you sell stuff then your sales payments no longer get deposited in your paypal account but directly into your bank account...

Other way around they wanted to get away thinking being tied held them back which does seem to be the case from stock prices.

Yes, this is a fine idea. While eBay knows they are the 900 lb gorilla in this market, they also know the issues over which their buyers will move to other platforms to shop, and speed of delivery is one.

Openly disclosing eBay's payment policies as the root cause of the delay would bring significant pressure to bear, even on behemoth eBay, if enough sellers increased their handling times and published such a statement in their listings.

VCoins? Though you need some volume to justify their fees.

Any opinions on catawiki? I've bought and sold a few coins there and like the expert review service which means you don't have to wade through fakes like EBay.
