1966 is this damage or cud, lam error

this is yet another 1966 coin for me. I'm thinking itsa lamination error or rim cud. and yes I see the crimper mark. what do you all think>?

Damage.

 

all rims of quarter 1965 to date are split copper/silver color. and show rim to show not damaged in pic 4

It's a real Quarter with damage to the Obverse Clad layer on the Rim.

 

A cud is a die break that includes the edge of the die (rim) and thus often includes a piece of the die falling away. Net-net for that part of the coin, there is nothing to press against the planchet and it gives an unfinished appearance. This can even reach above the normal surface of the coin (nothing to press on...)

A cud would not peel back the copper-nickel outside layer to expose the copper core.

That happened outside of the mint, hence PMD.

 

where is the damage the rim is Not damaged?

with the pic below, it looks like a lamination error
how do you explain it looks crack from the edge of the coin

 

look at this dirt under the 6 and post above I can feel the metal I think a little piece broke off

Were that a lamination the part of that second 6 that's shadowed-off would be lifted off with it. Look at it closely. It's intact, lying under the damage. You can prove it. Simply peel that area up and see.

 

so this is what you all say is just damage,pmd. I gave you 3 choices in my post what you all thought this was. and you all said damage pmd but this looks clearly like lamination

 

It's just damage. Part of the rim was scraped over on top of the field of the coin.

 

@ldhair plz show me the scraping of the edge of the coin I show you the edge in pic 4 there is no scraping nor on the inner rim to have that much metal there would be major damage ie scraping on the coin and you can see cracking in other photos showing lamination

 

Looks like a rim-fin folder over, based upon the photos. The number "under" the metal would be normal for a fold over. JMHO

 

If you think you know what it is then why do you ask?

I'm still sticking to damage.

 

I am still learning and I want to confirm if I am right or wrong. and I have been right lately! and now that I pulled up the metal I HAVE NO CLUE AS TO WHAT THIS IS NOW
anytime I've seen liftable metal everyone says its lamination
