The obverse looks like die polishing but I have never seen it that deep so it makes me think it is damage, however I mostly see it in the fields and not in the design. The reverse I'm not 100% sure but I think it's possibly due to heavy die deterioration. Probably nothing but I'm tired so it's always best to ask for opinions.
Damage looks like someone was trying to make a design on it or something like that ,the reverse nothing special.
Somebody in a long, boring, staff meeting was trying to find something to do and happened to have a penny and a switchblade in his pockets lol...
Die polishing would be raised, like really light die cracks mostly going in the same direction. If you think about it, the raised devices on a coin are actually incuse on a die. By polishing the die, you would be putting very small scrapes into it, which would cause raised lines on a coin.
you're absolutely right, Die scratches are raised. With my tired eyes the scratches on this coin looked raised but I was wrong. Thank you all for the help.
