The Doctor and the Tardis have arrived in coin form: Royal Mint Unveils Doctor Who Medals Maybe now we can finally get inside the elusive Tardis, go back in time and buy up all those coins and bullion dreamed about from bygone days.
Sweet!!. I love the Idea of time travel.. But say I go back and get a Box of 1909 S VDB.. And then must pay the 25.00 for it.. I would have to use my old Currency that would should look new but doesn't since it is 100 years old from my end.. they might not take it.. Aargggeee.. ... I would just have to grab the box and escape back to the Tardis....yea!
I thought that's why people saved junk coins and circulated notes, so when time travel happens they will be first to go back and pass undetected in the old times before dashing back to now and cashing in on the score. lol
I have joked about that for years.. My first two wishes.. Time Travel for Sweet coins.. (Oh Man, Could you just imagine) .. And Magic pants.. (Well Magic Pockets that Always have what ever I want handy.. LOL)
Has De Orc seen these yet? But if you do time travel for coins, they'll instantly be worthless. EVERY future collector will have gone back, gobbling up the entire mintage and forcing the government to produce more! This will totally collapse the 1909 economy and devastate the time-space continuum! (I call dibs on actually writing this story...)
Its all over for Dr. Who. He was in my chicken coupe, stealing a couple of hens to gobble up. As he got to the fence with the hens, I filled him full of lead with my .45 Colt. I field dressed the carcass, and we had him for Thanksgiving dinner. Burp !!!! The Darlicks came over for dinner too. Traci
So true, but then that works both ways. You'll need a supply of cash from the proper period as spending money. Otherwise, if you go back to the Civil War with nothing but greenbacks and clad coinage in your pocket, you'll get a lot of confused looks when you try to pay for anything. In fact, the dear Doctor got caught by this trap at least once... (first episode of Planet of Fire IIRC... I was a HUGE Doctor Who fan back in the day...) Conclusion -- ALL successful time travelers are numismatists!
"ALL successful time travelers are numismatists!" Hey! That's a great quote! p.s. Tom Baker was my favorite Doctor of them all, a great actor all around even when not under his hat and scarf as the Doctor. :hail:
Love it.. Going to steal it.. Now it is mine... THANKS>> "ALL successful time travelers are numismatists!"
Of course, the universe would be a much more interesting place if the converse were true: ""ALL successful numismatists are time travelers!" My favorite quote of all time, anywhere, is also a Doctor Who quote, from an otherwise forgettable episode, The Time Monster: "A straight line may be the shortest distance between two points, but it is by no means the most interesting."
I just tried to buy some Who medals from the Royal Mint for my sister (the BIG fan) but they can "only be dispatched to the UK." Does anyone know any dealers or UK residents that can help?!
