@mightyknighty I normally wouldn’t post a response. But I will offer this up. First, what I think a few people are focusing on too much on is the car and the price of the repair and the coins. I will ignore both and give you my honest opinion. Mainly because The old saying goes, that is someone can’t live on $1,000 a month...then they wouldn’t be able to live on $10,000 a month. So those things aside I challenge you to think about this objectively...no emotion...just look at the facts. 1) The best advice I can offer is budget. I would highly recommend books by Dave Ramsey. His budgeting advice is life changing. It is delayed gratification to get those things you really need, then as you finish those, you get what you want. For example my wife and I budget and have “fun money” set aside every month. We also have 6 months salary in an emergency fund for those surprise repairs. 2. MOST IMPORTANT!! PLEASE READ THIS. Do not hide financial matters from your wife. I am serious. It shows a complete lack of respect and care for her, plain and simple. Whether you take a loan out for the coins or not...you better have your wife on board. Gambling with your family’s money in secret is extremely selfish, self-centered, and most of all shows an extremely lack of responsibility or care for your family. If you are seriously considering going behind your family’s back to take out a loan to buy some shiny trinkets, when you can barely afford to repair your car, then I think you should seriously consider getting therapy for this addictive behavior. If your wife is ok taking the loan, then it is no biggie, if you have to hide it from her...then you have to seriously consider what you love more...her or shiny things.
@mightyknighty sell Porsche - those are overrated and as you can see, pain in the butt to maintain- Buy coins and Keep it Real!
I don't know why some women including my wife think spending 5k on a chanel bag is fine but spending that on an ancient coin is not? I talked to her many times and argue that Chanel can make thousands of those bags a day but no one can make even one more ancient coin and whatever supply is left is all we got from them but women brain does not work properly when it comes to logic
Step #1. Tell wife all. Step #2. Buy a reliable used Toyota. Step #3. Sell Porsche for what you can get and don't throw good money after bad. Step #4. Buy coins if you so choose. Do you really need a Porsche as a daily driver? Is it that important?
#2 wont work she loves the Porsche to show off her friends when they hangout. #3 wont work because no one would pay anything for a Porsche that does not move #4 is only possible with a bank loan as of now
Boy, you really have a problem and this comment from you creates a whole new line of thought, but I'll keep my opinions to myself.
Who cares? I am talking about rarity. An ancient coin can not be made anymore but a factory can make thousands and millions of bags
Sure seems the mechanics shop is bending you over. Like twice the price of a used low mile transmission, and depending on which model twice the price of a new one. What model of Porsche do you own? There is no doubt the PDK transmission is complex but not that complex.
Your question was also about investment and rarity... Porsche - is not a good investment; Chanel bag - might be
believe it or not she was asking earlier this year to upgrade it to a brand new 150k Porsche and I declined so downgrade to Toyota? Forget about it she kills me over that thought
I can't believe you just said that, especially knowing that women like me post here. Who exactly is behaving illogically in this thread? Maybe it's time for a marriage counselor and some honesty, instead of thinking about coins.
Both Porsche and bags CAN be made more and more by factory but can someone make a genuine ancient coin? Only they can make forgeries but the genuine ones can not be made anymore ! I hope you get what my point is
The guy who is going to go into debt to buy coins he can't afford and already has a car he can't afford
You might not think like my wife and I really wish she was more open to me to buy ancient coins but unfortunately women with your level of interest in ancient coins are very rare! This is the fact look how many women collect coins vs men?
Depends, if you 95% sure you are buying a superb coin at a great price, your 1.2% monthly APR will not kill you- gotta think outside the box Leverage, Leverage, Leverage! @kazuma78 for financial advise here
