Nice to get back to some schools, even though it was a little light. 1 gallon. Nice to get a half, and my 6th tungsten ring. The earring says HB925, but I have my doubts. I am closing in on 30,000 targets. And a few hunts back I hit 7,000 quarters.

Tungsten ring update. Retail they are like $75-$150 and around the same density as gold, people like them because they are different and they never need to be cleaned or polished (I don't think they tarnish) And the used value is like $20-$30 each.

Nice when the majority of targets are quarters.

    Junk jewelry.
The coin is 500 yen though and worth $4.57 if I could cash it in.
As a collectible coin it's worth around $7 but this one is face value.

Hmmm, Someone take their rings off to fool around in the park or river and loose them in the shuffle?
I know a girl that lost a gold ring on a riverbank.

    Interesting
I'm familiar with the activity sans clothes, but sans jewelry? Why?

Bag o' rings. There are many more that aren't in this bag. (Gold, silver, tungsten, stainless steel, other nice ones that aren't precious metals.)

The best hunt of the year, and the worst. 3 more spots have locks, fences, gates, chains, doors. 2 spots which I expected to be locked were open. Nice to get my third Ike dollar, a half and a silver ring. Right as I was thinking about this being the end of the metal detecting, since I will only be able to get out once a month if everything is locked up, I hit the Eisenhower. At first I thought it was a half. Then I realized it was much larger, and I was bummed because I figured it wasn't a coin. (Maybe a medallion or a large foreign coin.) So that was a very pleasant surprise. The next spot I got the half. And the last spot, the first target was a good signal and it's stamped 925 inside. (A quarter missing from this photo).

Better shot and you can see the stamp.

Most of the spots were open which was a pleasant surprise. One new one is all locked up. I hit a few "spills". A 6 penny spill which included the 2 wheaties. A 4 quarter spill. And a q,d,n,n, p spill with another Q nearby.

In the first photo all these items have counterfeit stamps. 14K or 925. One might even say 18K.
The second photo are the stainless steel rings I have found.
The last photo are items that are stamped plated.

Every time I go out, 3 more spots have giant iron prison doors. On the plus side the last piece I found was gold 10K. However, it is labeled 10KB and that either means it was made in Mexico (which is fine). Or, if it means "bonded" it's some kind of plating. The patina on this seems fine and doesn't seem like plate at all but I will have to get it tested.

I wasn't in the mood to dig all the zinc pennies.

Dang, I look forward to the day that I can achieve that sort of precision on my MD.

    Nice finds!

Well the copper pennies give a good sound. Dimes, quarters, silver all good sounds.
Nickels give a low tone like a pop top or pencil eraser but stronger. The zinc is usually a junky sound. I have recovered over 30,000 targets and most are identifiable by sound. Like a small dollar coin sounds like a quarter only a little better. But if it is on edge, it can sound like a copper penny. A dime and a silver ring give a similar sound. Etc.

    Gold update. Yay.

Gee, when I was living in Japan, 500 yen was equivalent to $2.50 USD. Back in the mid-80s.
