I see a lot of "Well Known Member" there should be a threshold of a let's say a 1,847 post before you can claim your a Well Known Member.
When the public isn't solidly behind the favorite they tend to run and finish like this. The ones who made the killing here bet three or four long-shots to win. While it's of course never a sure thing, this was one of the easiest races to win, as this tends to hold up the better the higher-up the competition-level or grade of the race. If, say, you'd have bet five long-shots to win, here, and one of them was this Medina Spirit, you'd have doubled your investment. But there's the rationale.
I believe the most favorable horse had a terrible demise especially for the 5 million total people bet on itboy there going to be angry.
All that I am saying is that, the new OP rarely ever knows who is knowledgeable and who is blowing smoke. Leaving the conversation with a truthful explanation or description, will always leave more of an impression than don't you know who I am attitude. I am right you are wrong. I am not judging, cause I am guilty as the next for responding to negative attacks. Honestly though, most of the back and forth between newbie and well known members is fun to read or has any benefit to CT.
That's just perception. They ask the questions, we answer the questions. Put on their big-boy/big-girl pants and quit feeling victimized by imagined voices they're hearing, namely, in the nature you're relating, here. On the first, I, for one, never said I'm better than anybody on here, ever, and any inference to the contrary is smack out of someone's dizzy perception. On the second, sure we think we're right. Hell, why do you think they seek us out for answers? Still, I could be persuaded otherwise, as can you, as can any reasonable member, here. But they snap, that's the end of it, they cross the line. Now I just get out when that becomes apparent. I didn't used to, but I'm starting to, anyway. Let us make that decision. That's all I'd say on that.
In defense of Newbies......In my early days on CT I asked a question about a coin and was answered by @paddyman98 . I did not know paddyman from Adam OR that he was an expert in error coins. Soon after he answered me, I saw another post showing a book cover with a coin on the front that looked the same as the coin I asked about, so I re-asked the question in that thread. When Paddyman saw my question in the other thread, he posted a rather terse reply (enough to tell me he was insulted by it). There was no intent of malice or insult on my part, but still it happened. (BTW I apologize Paddyman). Please realize that Newbies are Newbies, they don't know who is who or the many times the "coin lingo" used. Often follow up questions are just them trying to get a better handle on the information they got. ALTHOUGH....the ones who out and out argue may not be the case, but for most, what seems like denying the answer is really a request for more info. If you came into my workplace, and I started using the lingo (UBBM, Gaylord, UTF, Upright, DPS, ECC, loop mail.....etc) you would be at a loss to follow along too.
He shouldn't have done that. That was clearly wrong, under those circumstances. Generalizing from it, however, is just as wrong. In my humble opinion, should that make one feel any better... Acknowledged. Most of us already know that. We didn't all just fall out of the stork, you know.
