Went to my very first coin show this morning and picked these up. Not much, just wanted to get my feet wet.
Received my first VOC Duit in the mail today. What an inexpensive way to own a cool piece of history!

Not exactly a new acquisition...quite the opposite, actually. I sold this coin in March of 2020 thru eBay to a guy in Israel. The shipment got lost, tracking said it was delivered, buyer claimed he never got it, a refund request was issued and accepted. Long story short...too late for that...I was out a $200+ coin. Then, yesterday, who shows up in the mail? The coin, returned from Israel as undeliverable. Only took 14 months and a pandemic to see it home. I had totally forgotten about it. A couple loose copper pickups from today: Tunisia, 1946 = 1365 AH, 5 Francs, Muhammed VIII (Single-year type) Prussia, 3 Pfenninge, from the year of German unification, 1871 (C=Frankfurt). I'm pretty happy with the condition of this one.
I am curious why it apparently says "4 S", as I recall the denomination being 4 escudos. Some Spanish way of saying escudo? 'scudo?
