Fun! Unlikely you are going to find much silver, if any, but there's a decent chance you could take together some decent exchange value. Japanese, Swiss, Panamanian, Canadian, and Australian coins in particular have higher denominations that often get mixed into lots like this one. Provided it spends, you can reliably get at least 70-80% of the current exchange rate on ebay.
Aiden, good luck and don't let @Eric the Red take credit for any of your finds. LOL I too, just acquired 10 pounds of World coins that I will be going through at my leisure. In the past, I've found these sites, along with numista, to be helpful in identifying world coins. http://worldcoingallery.com/Inst-ID/index.html http://worldcoingallery.com/index.php and for possible tokens; http://tokencatalog.com/index.php Good luck and keep us posted.
One other thing I should probably mention to you @AidenAlexander. There's actually plenty of overlooked key date West German coins from the Karlsruhe Mint (G Mintmark). Too bad you don't have any aunts like mine. This was actually a birthday gift I received from one of them a few years ago.
My parents are like "I'll get you a coin for your birthday so pick one out." After a while of looking my dad is like "under 30 bucks" Lol they don't understand. It's fun, but awful in its own way.
My dad is quite the opposite. He's gone behind my mom's back more times than I can count buying coins. For example, when I graduated HS, my mom told him, "don't buy anything more than $200" or something along those lines. He ended up buying me a 1/4oz proof AGE, much to my mom's consternation.
Haha, similar story... my dad once paid me this for mowing the grass.... At the time it was worth about $20
