I had a pile of change on my dresser the other day I went through. Came across this Lincoln. My guess on grade is G to VG (Trying to remember the grading scale, been a while). My guess on that is due to the lettering still in decent shape as well as the wheat stalks on the reverse. But, it is definitely a circulated coin, lots of nicks and scratches and the cheek and beard are worn down pretty well. I am an amatuer grader at best so I definitely welcome some other opinions. Thanks, Troy
It looks XF or possibly AU to me, but most likely cleaned/dipped. G - VG means that the wheat lines are not complete.
You found this in your pocket change? Wow - one of the ladies at work gave me a 47-S that was in decent shape, but never have I found something this nice.
There's alot of people spending whatever they have these days. People who don't collect coins will spend whatever is in their pockets. Its a very good time to search your change. Nice Find...
I don't think he's kidding. With so many home robberies, coin dealers robbed, coin store breakins and as already noted many spening that old jar of coins for a rainy day. I think the big problem here is just where did it come from. Not long ago I too found some old cents in my change in a drawer where I dump all my change. Nothing as great as that but still, old ones. Then I went nuts trying to remember just where I got that change from.
I agree. Yesterday I actually got a 1969-S Kennedy proof back in some change. Had some minor scuffing on the high points, but was otherwise perfect. Obviously someone very recently decided they desperately needed .50 cents!
I just got done reading with much interest a post about a roll of 1916 D dimes given to a guy "pupa" that never panned out. I must have spent 30 minutes reading the whole thread. I think that same guy is back.
......that's nothing! i once found a penny that had a picture of kennedy AND lincoln on it! ......talk about a FIND!!
I'll have you know that coin was stolen from my personal collection and since it was one of a kind, I think you may have some stolen goods. I'll not go so far as to accuse you of taking it, but it should be returned.
Where's pupa? Is that you again behind all those coins you found in change? "Granny died and placed one 1909 VDB in 65 RD into circulation. I found it!" lol
