    Hi All,

Ptolemy I, Uncertain Mint 13, in Cole Syria (294 BCE or later).

    upload_2021-4-29_1-15-26.png

OBV: Ptolemy I head facing right, wearing diadem and scaly aegis. Dotted border.
REV: Εagle on thunderbolt facing left, wings closed. Left field: AΛE[Ξ?]. Dotted border.
Provenance: ex CNG 81, 20 May 2009, 644. Commercial source: Probably Levantine. CPE Plate Coin.

From CPE: This coin may be an unofficial issue in view of its anomalous legend, which appears to be the beginning of the name Alexander. Although Ptolemy retained Alexander’s name on his silver coinage for some years after he became king, all coins bearing Ptolemy’s portrait were issued in his own name. In and of itself the tiny denomination suggests an origin in the area of Coele Syria and the attribution receives support from the commercial source. This piece is distinguished from the Yehud coinage of Ptolemaic type (CPE 250-254) by its fabric, specifically the dotted borders on obverse and reverse and the sharp vertical edge. The dotted borders also set it apart from the diobols of Uncertain Mint 12. Some elements of the reverse design are missing, due to a poorly centered strike.

My wife and I joke about this topic often. When we do something well, parenting, finances or whatever, we'll look at each other, slightly bow, shake hands and say, "Concordia". Too bad Napoléon didn't find it with his second wife who turned on him:

I just bought this lot at G&M and the coin I wanted was the Antoninus Pius sestertius with himself and his wife, but also his daughter Faustina and the young Marcus Arelius - all this on the occasion of the latter's marriage Æ Sestertius. Rome, AD 140-144. ANTONINVS AVG PIVS P P TR P COS III, laureate head right / CONCORDIAE, Pius standing right, holding small statuette of Concordia, clasping right hands with Faustina Senior standing left, holding sceptre; between them stand Marcus Aurelius and Faustina Junior, clasping hands over an altar. RIC 601 . Antoninus Marriage ended at Faustina Sr's death in 141 and Marcus grieved for his wife's death in 175 after which event she was deified. just like her mother in law was. Pavlos You pick out the big men. I'll make them brave!

Do we call this a clash or is it somehow an interconnection or symbiosis between two cultures and ethnities?
On the coin are two languages (Greek and Phoenician) and a interconnected god? (Poseidon and Baal Berith)
