Okay you guys are going to have to help me out with this one because I am kind of at a loss for words lol. This is the first time I have seen lines like this on a Buffalo Nickel before, it almost makes me think it was struck on a different planchet because it is on every surface of the coin. My other thought is that they struck this coin with a die that was literally falling apart. The huge line across the face and across the Buffalo are so interesting to me. Also if you look at the date around the "19" and the "TY" in liberty you can see more of what intrigues me as it does not seem like wear. Let me know what you guys think.
If it was only on the back like that I would think its a lamination but the fact its on both sides in the exact same spot raises other flags for me. Plus the coin looks like MS condition but instead if luster and smoothness its replaced with a different surface of all lines. Weird to me but maybe I'm thinking too hard about it lol
Most likely damage from a coin operated machine. Just my opinion. Welcome to the neighborhood, and thank you for posting Full Image. These old eyes appreciate it. Let's hope others will chime in. @JCro57, @paddyman98, @Fred Weinberg, others.
