    Foil coated bubble wrap.

Good way to confuse metal detectors?

Thank you! It was on my list from the World Crown Sized Coins thread!

Nice coin. Our babysitter got one (1908 S Peso) at a Mississippi River toll bridge in about 1977. She got it as 50 cents change. I traded her 50 cents for it. That's all she wanted.

Never seen foil lined bubble wrap used with before. Where did it come from? The only thing I could think of is that they didn't want it to be seen in some sort of postal scanner. IDK.

I love this design. I would like to add one to my world crown collection also.

Well, been checking it out for authenticity.

It pings very nicely, weight is dead on at 20.0 grams, but diameter is 35.7 mm versus 35.0mm spec.

Here is mine for comparison. It must have been in circulation for a long time.

Great coin but insane way to ship it. That's just begging to have the package opened and searched and who knows how they'd put it back in

Interesting, they both have those similar pock marks? Mine looks like it was dipped or media blasted to clean.

Funny thing is, the packaging was absolutely pristine. Looked like my neighbor packed it up and hand delivered it to me!

Shipped from Phillipines. Maybe they use x-ray scanners and this disguises the coin. Must be a reason for it.

Go buy a lottery ticket LOL. Things blocking scanners usually just scream search me

Was it shipped as something else on the customs form?

No customs paperwork included, shipped DHL via USPS apparently.

The DHL package was inside a USPS package shipped from New Jersey...

A lot of metalized packaging like that is used for electronic parts that are sensitive to static. Not sure I've ever seen any exactly like that, though.
