I've been busy with work, but been making sure to find some time for hobbies. Wanted to share recent purchases and CRH discoveries; figured I'd make a single thread. I had the opportunity to search through 30x rolls worth of quarters ($300). I was optimistic that I might find at least one West Point quarter and at least one well-worn silver quarter. Not really surprising but I found neither... instead, I pulled (read: hoarded) $3.75 worth of bicentennial quarters and one 2018 Panamanian quarter Balboa. Since this is the US Forum and not world, I won't linger on this purchase; but do want to point out the incredible shipping speed. I ordered some coins from the Perth Mint on 3/2. To my amazement, they shipped via FedEx from Australia on 3/3 and arrived to me in Chicago on 3/8! Next, I ordered the 2021 US Proof Set. The new 2021 quarter is quite captivating. Something rather refreshing about seeing the original obverse after 22 years. On to the more interesting stuff -- in the classic silver department, I picked up this common date Washington-Carver half. At $35 shipped, this white MS65 upgrade was impossible to pass up. And lastly, my most exciting acquisition... **drum roll** 1926 Sesquicentennial quarter eagle, graded MS63 - This one has been on my want list for some time and when I finally found this copper-spot-free, haze-free, lustrous beauty, I snagged it up and never looked back Planning on sending it for a reholder + Trueview at a minimum; and considering it for a regrade. The more I look at it with my magnifying glass, the more I believe it could grade 64...
A great assortment! I'm a fan of the Gold Sesquicentennial! The Perth Mint was always quick for me as well but I haven't ordered anything from them since 2015. Nice to hear the shipping speeds are still solid!
Only my second time ordering from there; quite pleased both times. Their wide variety of pop culture coins make for great gifts. Last Christmas, I got my dad one of the previous 1 oz James Bond coins - he loved it. One odd thing I've noticed is their pricing is a bit weird on some of the silver coins... seems the price of a particular coin increases as the stock goes down.
That's odd. I had not heard about them increasing prices as stock decreased. I know Apmex does that but haven't seen any mints do it.
Thought I'd necro this older thread to share the TrueView which came back. The regraded grade still hasn't posted, but the photo is beautiful nonetheless!
Still a beauty; wouldn't trade her; but PCGS re-affirmed she's only MS63 and not MS64 as I'd hoped. Oh well
