I'm curious and maybe nobody can or won't say, but what is the optomistic outlook for the $10,000 after one year. Some where between 10 & 20 % return? By the way I can't wait to watch you all. I may learn something.
I don't think that anyone can say. This is a kind of no holds barred situation. You can buy anything you want. I wanna see how many winners vs. losers there are as much as how much the winner can do.
well I will be the newbie in this i guess. I am posting these now because these are the prices that they are at according to PCGS when i did it. ol well if anything it was a fun experience. edited due to lack of reading.
mystery is going to have to learn to read directions if (s)he ever wants to win any contest. There will be an entirely different thread for submissions and I am going to have already received the picks via PM or e-mail or however I decide to do it. I also want to note that I wonder where he found MS-40 and MS-55 coins in the guides.
NP i fixed it. i have had tons of overtime so i am a bit tired. the website has a listing of all MS grades and values, or is using the website not allowed?
no worries. I am in the grocery business and this time of year and overtime go hand in hand, so I feel your pain. Research what you want until the 1st of next month. We'll get started around the 5th or so. Look for more threads on this. that's where the official rules, etc. will be. They will each have their own threads.
I would think useing the website is allowed, but there is no such thing as MS40 or 55. Grades start out at: Poor-1 G-4 VG-8 F-12 VF-20 XF-40 AU-50 MS-60 So - your grades would have been - XF-40 and AU-55. Speedy
looks like we're going to have good participation! I have already assembled my list and I have to say that $10k is NOT as much as you'd think. I couldn't buy as many things as I wanted to, so I just took the best of that group (I hope).
a person could have 1 coin or they could have 50,000 coins. it's part of the fun to see who uses which strategy, and how well each strategy does. I don't think that anyone who participates will lose, because we all can (and likely will) learn something from our own experience, or the experience of others whether good or bad.
as i said i am the newb here. i started when i was young and kinda got into other things. young and dumb. should have asked for gold coins instead of transformers but boys will be boys. that is the stragedy. go for a couple of big coins that will hedge upward, or spread it out across a ton of coins and hedge your bets. that is what makes it interesting as you will see different people do different things.
The best strategy would be to find a pop 1 coin currently valued around $10k that you know will be up for auction sometime during 2010. Then just buy that coin for $20-$25k or so and once the price guide is updated based on your purchase, you'll probably win :thumb:
I'm in. If already picked my coin(s). Can I send them in a PM to you, noodle now? Or do I have to wait till 12/1/2009? Bruce
OK, folks, it's all set! Speedy and PennyGuy will receive my picks this Thursday after midnight (Friday morning technically so that I am subject to the same rules as everyone else.) They will be asked not to open the message until after I have publicly posted my picks on December 6 (Monday). Their only job with these picks will be to confirm the accuracy of my picks. I have already made them, and will send them to these two gentlemen on Friday but will post them just as everyone else will in the thread on Monday. for those of you who wish to enter, understand this one thing: in order to preserve the integrity of the contest, DO NOT SEND ME PICKS UNTIL AFTER MIDNIGHT ON THURSDAY! NO PICKS SENT BEFORE THAT WILL BE ACCEPTED AND I WILL ASK SPEEDY TO REMOVE ANY POSTS THAT HAVE NOT COMPLIED WITH THIS RULE!!!!! If your picks are still posted next week after the contest starts, then you have an official entry. There will be at least 1 prize, so please try to read and follow the rules. I want as many people to participate as possible, and I wish everyone good luck and good learning! Rules will be posted tomorrow, December 1 in a rules thread. I will try to make the rules relatively simple so that there are few questions. Everyone will have the intervening days to mull it over and make their selections. Good luck to all and let's have some fun! Noodle
Come on people - tonight is the LAST night you can enter for this contest - BNB - I was looking forward to being in this contest with you, but it doesn't look like you have entered yet...come on dude! Speedy
