1943 P Nickel....First coin out of the roll....It was an eye popper and jaw dropper for me!
Now of course, I'm thinking " What else is in this coin roll?!!" Well all I found was
39 more nickels....But nothing as old as this guy.... 1943 NICKEL O.jpg 1943 NICKEL R.jpg

They still end up out there. War nickels don't seem stick out as much to the average Joe as silver vs clad quarters. I've been fortunate to find quite a few, and all of them really ugly and gross. But the excitement of having something new always keeps me roll hunting, and using cash.

I hope you have some more luck!

Not much in that roll besides that 1943, but I went back to the bank today to get some more nickels and some Quarters too....I like 50's and older ( of course!) all 60's and some early 70's......I know they are not worth alot but I like em so they always end up in a cardboard holder when I find them...Anyways I got 8 rolls I believe it was, and a few Quarter rolls....Started looking at the nickels first and the first two rolls ( so far ) were ALL 50's, 60's, and early 70's...every coin in those 2 rolls I'm a keepin!!! 3 S mints!! I love it when you get lucky like this! :hilarious: SingleShot0000.jpg SingleShot0001.jpg SingleShot0002.jpg SingleShot0003.jpg SingleShot0004.jpg SingleShot0005.jpg

Thanks Robert....Let me tell you how I got the "Smokin" nickname...I am a retired Truckdriver, and I ended up buying my own triaxle dumptruck. Made some nice $$ with it and enjoyed having my own truck. The owner operators that I worked with were all " Hammer Down " drivers, meaning forget what the speed limit signs say, They will be driving as fast as they can possibly drive their truck. And if the job pays by how many loads you makes, then yes, they will make more money, but they are putting themselves and everyone else on the road at risk, plus putting more stress on their truck....And if the job paid hourly, well they would still "Hammer Down" all day long...(Now that's really stupid) I never did that...I drove what the speed limit signs told me to drive....So because I was going so much slower than they were, one of the drivers gave me the nickname, " SmokinJoe "....And that's what everyone started calling me. :hilarious: Just Got It.jpg

Tell me about it. In 1970 I was 16 years old, knew everything and was invincible.

Nice wheels SmokinJoe!:cool: Like all truckers, I bet you have had your share of angry people jack up in front of you.:mad:
My wife has the lead foot in this union and I am constantly hitting the phantom brake in the passenger seat when she's behind the wheel. Not so much anymore. Fortunately, it doesn't occur when she drives me home from the procedures I periodically need, but I will say she takes it easy. Needless to say, I do most of the driving because after a few miles with her behind the wheel, I feel like I had 10 cups of high test.
Good luck to you SmokinJoe and Keep on truckin!!!:):)

Thanks Robert, and I have to say, I have also sat in the passenger seat as my wife drove.....I do believe that is when I started getting white hair....So happy she does not drive anymore....
