I got this coin at a coin shop a few weeks ago and I'm trying to positively identify it. It seems like it's not an actual coin but more of a medal. The confusing thing is there is a bronze version which I can find in catalogs and apparently also a silver version. I really don't think mine looks like bronze but it also doesn't really look like silver to me, though it could be. It looks a lot more like silver than bronze though. This link doesn't say anything about there being a version other than bronze: https://www.ngccoin.com/price-guide/world/ethiopia-crown-x-13-1967-cuid-1056686-duid-1243581 This one here is silver and sold for quite a bit of money recently: https://www.ebay.com/itm/2033477823...=true&nordt=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557 How can I tell if mine is silver. Would a magnet rule out any other kind of metal? Anyone familiar with this coin? Here's mine.
It looks very similar to the silver one in the eBay link. I think you should be able to weigh it to see what metal it is. Is there not one on Numista you can use to compare?
So I found out I do have a copy of the Krause Unusual Coins catalog and it has these. It lists a bronze version as well as two different silver versions. One is .925 and the other is .999. No weight given for either but mintage is 600 for the first one and 400 for the second. Looks like a good buy for $10.
