Hi guys, I have this Georgia State quarter and notice that there are 8 die chips, a die crack off the ribbon and collar clash on the left obverse rim. Are all these errors together due to a deteriorating die? There is one long die chip in the "J" from Justice. The "J" is filled in. Is this considered an interior die break?
Not sure but I have not even opened the whole set. Hmm might want to look. I’m saving for my son. Not sure on markings. I’m still learning.
These anomalies aren't necessarily indicative of die deterioration. They could happen at any time during the life of the dies.
You’re welcome. It’s interesting due to all of the cracks and chips and definitely a keeper but don’t plan on retiring with it.
I have a coin with nearly identical anomalies. My 1999 P has two die breaks and at least 9 chips on the reverse. Have you tried to sell yours or any idea of its value? TIA
These are minor when small, including the cracks. Nice to save but not a really marketable item unless you sell them in bulk, but that requires a lot of time and effort. Probably 50 cents in a dealers junk box.
