Hi all, I am just starting to collect and I read how to clean snd of course many ways are suggested. Should I even touch it and just do the proper way of starting an album etc. Thanks for any input.
Clean it if you want its only worth a cent and no mm means Philadelphia mint. Ignore the D in the picture.
I wouldn't fuss with it. What's the point? You'll just make it a cleaner eye-sore if you do. I'd just keep it until I found a better one.
Yep, large date, but it is a crummy Zincoln and it is already starting to rot away, so I'd spend it. NAV above 1¢.
Once it looks like that there is nothing that can be done to bring it back. Spend it! Here is my 82 LD Philadelphia minted copper cent.
I just recently learned a new reason many coins especially Cents have that appearance. Those lines are called Roller Marks. They actually have nothing to do with Improperly Mixed alloys aka a woody. I have been incorrectly been calling them woodies for a very long time.. Just sharing some of my new knowledge with you.
Thanks ! Is that something that occurs during the Minting process ? I mean the rolling out of the sheet of copper ?
