What was the original wide "AM" coin?
For example - a variety where the "A" and the "M' in America do not touch.

Is your question limited to LMC's?

If so, then the '59's were the first.

    Not limited to LMC's

    1722 half penny?

Maybe the 1792 Getz patterns if your thinking of a US coin.

    You may be correct.

I was thinking of the 1858 Flying Eagle with small letters. Thats how you can tell the difference between large and small dates.

I was just thinking of coins with the words America on them where the A and M don't touch.

The 1722 had the word "AMERICANA"

So that really wasn't a variety then

    HMMMM

Nope, not aware of any where the A & M touched.

Interesting trivial matter to toss around.

    Be cool.
