    Isn't that actually a portrait of Ptolemy I himself, which was often used in subsequent generations?

    I have more problems with the Ptolemy bronze issues , they really look alike, luckyly there is an excellent site: the Ptolemy project by Daniel Wolf :)

Macedonian shield, boss decorated with facing gorgoneion / Macedonian helmet; kerykeion and monogram to lower left and right. Price 3159 (c. 323-315 BC); Zapiti & Michaelidou 7–8. VF, dark patina

    Here's a dolphin with a hare.

    Mint: Sicily, Messana
    Obv.: MEΣΣANA - The nymph Messana driving slow biga of mules right; two dolphins confronted in exergue

    Mint: Messana (ca 420-413 BC)

    Well there are a couple of things in this attribution that left me wondering:
    "What the heck are lunar horns?"
    "Who is Donum Burns? I should really quote references I have!"

    "lunar horns" appear to be a way of describing the"horns" of a crescent moon for lunar god Mao, an important Zoroastrian lunar deity found on the coins of the Kushan Empire in martial dress. Mao is linked with the female goddess in Greek mythology: Selene, the lunar sister of Helios.
