2006 D Cent looks fake

It was plated and has other weird things done to it hence a high school experiment,I doubt someone would fake a zilincon.

 

+1, Why would anyone take the trouble to make a counterfeit 2006-D?

It could be but really who would?it won't make centsjust throw away dollars.

 

That's their problem.. Could be a novelty fake coins.
I've seen different types made.

 

It would help if the op can weigh it and do a magnet test.

Doesn't stick to magnet. Had a magnet with me so went ahead and tested.

It's a fake. Doesn't look anything like an authentic cent. Not even close

 

I would bet on that. Way too many really weird design devices to be plating. I wonder if its the same size as a normal cent.

It looks like a mini souvenir coin. Have you seen it in person or next to something of known size?

 

If it is fake, and better pictures would help to discern this, it's possible it was made from a homemade casting for fun. I can envision an accurate impression being made with a genuine Lincoln cent and then the portrait in the mold toyed and monkeyed with prior to pouring.
