I'm a little curious about older bills. Not the ones from the 50s...but the style from the 80s - early 90s. These are the kind I grew up with. The smaller head versions. I always told myself that I'd keep a few during the change to the bigger heads. Unfortunetely, I didn't and haven't seen any in over a year. After only a few years, would they be worth something?
I doubt if they will be worth much over face value, anytime soon. Note collectors are always looking for Choice Crisp Uncirculated obsolete notes. The problem with modern issues, is the huge numbers that were printed. Now, Star notes, Error notes and interesting serial numbers, will always be desireable.
Jody is right. Currency collectors are a breed to themselves. I am amazed at their habits. There is some specialized reading for small size notes. Some with the correct plate numbers and or right signatures are worth a considerable amount of money. It is an interesting field of study.
I want to know who is buying at those prices. I have quite a few certificates that I would love to unload at that price
Those prices don't seem to be too far off for the more common issues. But there's a lot of stuff listed at higher prices that I usually sell as common. I have a pretty good market for silver certs and just in $1's alone I probably handle a few hundred per week. The prices for the $500 and $1000 notes seems low, except for the 1934 B & C $500 notes...not sure what's up with that.
