    Hi,

I just finished a box of nickels and found the following:
    68S x 2
    69S
    70S x 4

I was able to find the nickel mintages online but not information about if these were produced as proof only or not for those years. Anyone know?

    Btw, I also found these:
    39
    41 X 2
    43 -> yeah!
    47
    52
    54
    57

Actually, 1968 - 1970-S nickels we're struck as both proofs and business strikes. Production #s:

    1968-S: 100,396,000 business strikes, 3,041,506 Proof strikes

    1969-S: 120,165,000 business strikes, 2,934,631 Proof strikes

    1970-S: 238,832,004 business strikes, 2,632,810 Proof strikes

Huh ?? I think the San Francisco mint made nickels for circulation in 68, 69 and 70 (lots of 'em).

Dear me. It would appear that I have egg on my face. In the words of SNL's Rozzana, Rozzana Danna....."never mind".

Nice finds. Are the "keepers" in decent condition?

One of the 41's was in surprisingly good condition. I don't collect nickels (except the silver of course) but I hold on to the pre 60's in case I change my mind ;)

Add more egg, wrong SNL character. Gilda Radner played both characters but the one you are thinking of was Emily Litella. It's a common mistake and probably 90% of people attribute "Never mind" to Rozzanna Rozzana Danna.

I do like finding the 68-70 S nickels in circulation. They are pretty rare in my experience.
