Well I finally pulled the trigger an got my coins graded.
The dollar came out to MS67. The cent to MS66RD.

I was hoping the ring on the obverse of the dollar was just the plastic cheerios holder, but it wasn't.
Also the back has black spots. What can cause this?

The left eye and cheek looks a bit messed up. A chip or gouge?
    I'll call it a crying dollar:p

Did they let you keep the dollar package?

First of all congrats!! My cheerios dollar graded a 67 as well but my cent only graded a 63 red.

The marks are in fact dings or contact marks that the coin sustained while in the package.

Okay - I understand getting the 2000 Cheerio dollar graded. So is the 2000 cent a variety? Or were they in the same package - just curious. Nice coins by the way.

I think they let you have the Cent designated as a "Cheerios" cent on the holder when you submit in the packaging.

    Very cool congrats!

They came in the same package, and some of the cheerios cents were minted with the die for the proof reverse. Though I don't think they are considered rare.

Sadly I only ever got two cents with my cereal.

They did mark it as a "Minor Variety: "Cheerios" Cent".

I think the marks came from before they packaged them. It stayed undisturbed in a junk/sock drawer between some papers for years. An the where no indentations on the plastic surface.

    Haven't gotten them back yet.
