I’d greatly appreciate any help with ID, year, translation etc. thank you very much in advance. Length is approximately 2 inches.
From what I understand, many of the fakes have silver outside with a cheap core. I'm sure you don't want to drill it or anything. It looks very cool!
I'm not sure of that. I only know the dynasties. I don't have any literature on the subject. I looked onine a little but didn't find one like yours.
Looks like it Might be a 1 Tael Ingot due to being 1/10 the size of this one, but can’t tell any More yet. https://www.coinarchives.com/w/lotv...ot=52130&Val=5f772a607dca6eb00c7d26b705d7ac43
Hong Kong is not the same as Eastern Zhou. yes, its a tael. http://www.chinaknowledge.de/History/Zhou/zhou-econ-currency.html
Can't tell for authencity as I never handled one but it looks like a good chunk is cut off. An example sold here. https://www.lot-art.com/auction-lot...VERY-FINE/54327-china_xianggang-09.4.21-stack Edit: here is another one https://www.numisbids.com/n.php?p=lot&sid=3338&lot=53044 From my understanding, it was a cast product of a jewellery shop in Hong Kong. As of age, I have no clue. I would assume it would be around 1950 - 1980s.
I don't think anything older than modern would be 99.9% pure. So Hong Kong 20th Century sounds plausible. If part of it is cut off, it's probably more likely to be authentic! I do see "電化純銀..." on the bottom right (as oriented with the circle top). Which might be "electrolytically purified silver" or something similar. Not something you'd likely see on an ancient piece...
No, just sharing in case someone is interested. We are all one community of collectors helping each other.
