1944 d/s? And wheat penny stamped on wrong planchet

    Hello i was wanting to get some info on a 1944d wheat penny I have. I think it might be a d over s and I also was wanting some input on a 1950d wheat penny if it is a planchet error or what because it looks to me

    1944 looks normal and i think the D/S is only on the error steelies ,1950 is just damage no errors.

    What your seeing is Patina . Probably spent time in a wet atmosphere . I have several like it but they are "dug" coins from Metal Detecting .

    That's verdigris. It forms on copper. Painters centuries ago would let it form then scrape it off to make paint from that color. I was horsing around, Matthew, didn't mean to be taken seriously, that's what that :D meant at the end...
