Don't buy many dimes but this looked like a decent buy to me for $52 shipped. Pics are not great but coin looked XF to me which would make it worth $100+ Listing said half dime but pics were of a dime. What would you grade her? https://www.ebay.com/itm/1858-O-Sil...=true&nordt=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557
Coin shown (dime) is about EF-40. But all the text in the listing says half-dime. The 1858-O half dime in EF-40 is listed in Greysheet at $60. But the 1858-O dime in EF-40 is listed in Greysheet at $125. So, whichever it is, half-dime or dime, $52 is a decent price. But it's a much better deal if it's the dime, particularly since you have a photo of the dime. But if what's being offered is really a half-dime, you have no photo of that coin so you don't know what you're buying. I would not buy this coin without confirming which it is.
I agree! I was there once too. I looked at the other listings and it seems that there isn't too much I am interested in but it seems to be a legitimate seller. I'm tired of a bunch of fakes on new stores on eBay.
No FB and its raw i wouldn't of done it but heck I've seen people where they start off with coins worth thousands of dollars.
If the seller doesn't write back to tell me it is indeed a dime and not a half dime I have not completed the sale yet and will inform e-bay of the problem with listing vs pics. Not much of a risk here. If it is the coin sent to me in the pic than I can make a few bucks.
You could always write to him, since he is a newbie to selling coins and tell him the coin is worth more. Since he has nothing of any value in his three listings and the background is the same blue in his photos, I think the coin was misnamed and it is a dime. Your decision, but maybe you alerted him by contact and he will check the value of a half dime and realize his mistake.
Not bad for the price I guess . I've purchased some coins "raw" and luckily got a deal including a 1/4 oz. KRUG for around $300 years ago when Gold wasn't too badly priced $1100 per Oz.
I see on the listing that it hammered at $48.09. Were you the winner? And what was the coin, dime or half-dime?
