Lots of reflection on reverse photo and cannot determine wear or poor strike on breast, a few field issues, so i will default to wear and MS-61. The obverse has lots of facial scratches and dings as well as wear on the stars at 3, 4 and 5 o'clock, so, AU-58. Overall, AU-58 because of photo quality, IMO.
I'm at AU55 with that one. The coin definitely has some wear as this issue is almost always found fully struck.
AU 55 with possible artificial toning. 1880-S is a very common dollar. If not artificially toned then it's worth about $40.00 to $50.00. If artificially toned then $25.00.
The pic's are slightly blurred and the tone seems artificial in my opinion. I'll withhold any further opinion, Good luck Sal
Definite signs of wear on the coin. Eagle’s breast denuded, on a normally well struck coin. I say low grade AU. My call is AU 50.
Light wear???? Look at the area circled. 1880s is very well struck. Feathers are completely worn. AU 50 is generous.
I had the same thought at first too...I was gonna say AU50 at best. But, the more I look at it the more I think there is some feather detail being hidden by the dark toning. There is absolutely some wear there...but I don't think the breast feathers are completely worn down.
At any rate, to be honest, it is a ghastly looking coin. Given the easy availability of gorgeous 1880s coins, it is not worth any numismatic premium, imho.
exactly saw the breast said 53 at best and the breaks in the color make me think it would also get questionable color/toning and a details grade because of it. the coin itself is in great shape, but as morgandude said with it being so common you can pick up a beautiful MS graded example for 50-60 dollars this one carries little premium over melt value
