The good news is it's possible the coin and note will still turn up. March 26th is not all that long ago. In 2005 I bought a collectible $10 note on eBay. I waited and waited and waited for it to arrive. After around 18 or so days I declared to myself the note had been pilfered and considered it lost. Well it arrived approximately 30 days after it had been sent. The envelope was fully intact and postmarked from the day the seller said it was sent.

More recently on this forum there was a very expensive shipment of notes that had been sent from the UK to be graded in the States. The package did not show up in the tracking system beyond its being initially received at the post office the notes were sent from in the UK.

For sure it seemed likely the notes were pilfered by a local employee of Royal Mail. Well some four months later the package, which was being sent to a TPG in the Eastern U.S., turned up on tracking in Los Angeles and eventually made it to its destination back east.

New and not sure if this is the right place. I recently was ripped off $300 for 10 fake oz of Silver. There is a guy named "Robert" aka Robert Danning" on offer up app. He is selling a ton of fake coins. One of which was a Cook island 3oz Collier coin which I would never think that one would make a counterfeit on. Crazy

Doug Davis has done a lot of good work for the hobby. I was able to chat with him a couple of times at the Fun Show. They help get the word out to dealers about crimes in the hobby. I was told that they have helped recover a lot of stuff but I can't give any examples.

Fedex or UPS is pretty thorough about tracking down packages within their system. If it was delivered though, it's going to be a problem, but if it was at a hub or on a truck and not delivered and disappeared, they will go to the ends of the earth looking for it, mostly because they don't want to pay out for the insurance claim.

Someone at my work fedex'ed an envelope with a bracelet, the package was damaged in a sorter and the bracelet came out of it and about a month afterwards the retrieved the parts of it out of the machine during a service, they paid the claim, but they explained how the package and the item got damaged in their system and why it was unrecoverable/salvageable. initially it was just "damaged" package. when it arrived empty it became a lost item search. it turned up ripped apart in the sorting machine during a service.

It is what it is, but where it happened is really everything to the lost/missing/stolen package thing. they will follow it's path from the last scanned spot.

I've had two "lost" (wayward) incidents where I eventually received the merchandise after the packages took still-unexplained circuitous routes all over the US before finally arriving weeks later. One was a firearm that was somehow delivered to a elderly couple in MN...they called the police who called the FBI and ATF (what a mess) and after all sorts of delays/verifications with the FFL dealers involved plus myself as the actual buyer/owner, I finally got it. Never any explanation from UPS...it was addressed correctly to my FFL in IN...and how/why it went where it did is anybody's guess. Funny thing is, I tracked it everywhere...I could see but not understand why it was going here and there...but nowhere close to where it should have been going. It was down with "Brown" after that.

I would assume "Robert Danning" is a fake name for the seller also.

Welcome @Scott2020. You would do better starting your own post. Go to the Forums heading at the top and select the correct forum. Probably best under Coin Chat. Type an explanatory heading, i.e. Silver Ripoff, or Bad Dealer. Explain in as much detail as possible what happened and wait for replies.
    Good luck.

And I'd bet no explanation from the elderly couple why they opened a package not addressed to them instead of just handing back to UPS to deliver it correctly?
