With the arrival of a letter from @lordmarcovan today, FFIVN and my Dansco 7070 page 2 is complete! In fact, minus the last 3 dollars (2 Seated Liberty Dollar Varieties and Trade Dollar), Our US Type Set is complete! We have a place holder clad quarter right now so I won't be posting that page until we find the right quarter.
Anyways, here is our page 2...along with some super awesome stamps that were on the Lord's envelope. FFIVN's favorite was the Boy Scouts stamp since he is currently a Webelo. My wife really liked the chicken since she has been wanting a chicken coup lately.

As you may know, many stamp collectors got tired of being burned by the USPS and their insistence of printing what is nothing more than wallpaper. I have collected stamps since 1948. I quit because it costs several hundred dollars a year just to keep up with current releases. And, nobody wants your old sheets, books, plate blocks, etc. So, I do the same thing - cover the envelope with old stamps. I quit at the end of 2000. I am terminating my coin collecting bad habit of trying to get one of each. P.S., I like the cover @lordmarcovan sent to you.

Wow, very nice! And nice stamps too ;)

Did FFIVN get the Arrow of Light yet? I am Life, working on Eagle, scouting is a lot of fun. :) Hopefully he will continue into Boy Scouts!

I tried collecting stamps as a young kid but couldn't afford to keep up. I've always kept stamps that were interesting from letters I received...However in the last decade or so, those have declined to near nothingness. These stamps will definitely go into the pseudo-collection that we have :)

Not yet. He is in his first year of Webelos.
I am an Eagle Scout and have had a lot of fun with him working through his Cub Scouting years. As of now, he wants to continue on to Boy Scouts. I really hope that he makes his way to the end. Overall, it is a really great program.

As a Life Scout, you are almost there. Keep it up. You still have quite a few years to finish up so you are on the right track :) I got my Eagle at 14. I kind of fell off after that though. My troop didn't have anything for me to do besides administration type stuff which kind of sucked as a teenager so I stopped going.

Glad to hear you are an Eagle scout. I'm sure you and FFIVN enjoy pinewood derby races, haha! Let him know that once you are a Boy Scout, you can get the coin collecting merit badge! :woot:

We actually combined coin collecting and pinewood derby this year. It didn't place in any races and didn't win any ribbons but I think it turned out pretty awesome anyways :)

He got his coin collecting belt loop as a Wolf and is already ready to go for his coin collecting merit badge when he gets into Boy Scouts. I have a feeling that will be his first one :)

Just as with coins, I had many outlets for old stuff. Relatives gave me a lot of my early coins. My aunt worked as Treasurer of a very old worldwide ironworks company. She had been there since about 1920. One time she cleaned out the vault and gave me all the envelopes with stamps on them. Relatives all over the world sent me stamps. It was fun until the USPS decided to make hundreds of different stamps each year. I still cut stamps off envelopes if they look interesting.

My son built a Pinewood Derby car. He hated it. Said it would never do anything. I pestered him in to going to the derby. His ugly car won first place. I think he learned a lot about beauty that day.

We aren't great by any stretch of the word.
He designs the car, I tweak it to a design that I can actually cut out with my limited tools, and then he does the rest. Luckily this year he wanted to make a dollar bill so all we had to do was slice the block real thin :)

CoinCorgi Tell your dog I said hi!

    I like it!

You've labeled your half dimes as half cents in your description.

Fun. My grandkids come out to our place sometimes to work on Scout projects. Your troop didn't have Explorers?

Nope. I grew up in a very small town in Nebraska.

I and my family spent 4 years in Hastings. I have a daughter and 3 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren living in and around Lincoln.

I lived in Hastings until 2nd grade :) Then my family and I moved to a small town south east of Lincoln. I lived there until I graduated high school and then joined the Navy

I know that area well. My mom taught at a small country school in Inland, Nebraska which was not too far from there. I remember driving down the highway and seeing all the grass covered bunkers.
