Had to come to Oklahoma to tend to my daughter. Was perusing my grandsons collection and he has this 82 Washington commemorative encased in a big holder from AACGS. Thought it was an interesting holder. Mighty big though.
It makes that half look like a nickel...But yeah, I've heard of them and seen ebay listings on rare occasions.
There's a thread here about this grading company from 2007 somewhere, it comes up on Google search. Large holder seems to equate to more bling than anything worthwhile.
I have one or two in their slabs. I know a little about them to be dangerous, so I'll send a shout-out to @ddddd as he is the man when it comes to oddball slabs. He should be here any minute....
@Conder101 might know more. From what I know, these are from a self slabber. The grades vary (some seem ok while others aren't too close). What is interesting is that they do both single coins and sets (I once owned a 1968 Proof Set slabbed by them-all coins given the same PR 67 grade...I've seen several of those).
You'd think these behemoths would be hard to misplace, but I'll be darned if i can remember where I put mine.
I didn't know about them when the book came out in 2003. I think I first saw them around 2007 and I was never sure if they were an actual grading service or a "made up" one because back then I always saw them associated with one of those shady promotion type companies. They are most likely a self slabberand didn't take submissions, just slabbing their own coins for promotional sales.
