Was wondering if this is die deterioration or if coin was struck with smaller diameter die? The evenly spaced strike separation on both sides and other than back shoulder inner lettering is pretty clean 20210411_121332.jpg 20210411_121402.jpg Image_2021-04-11 12_22_35_176.JPG Image_2021-04-11 12_22_14_296.JPG Image_2021-04-11 12_24_26_455.JPG Image_2021-04-11 12_23_59_358.JPG Image_2021-04-11 12_23_09_723.JPG is why I'm asking. Thanks

I'm a little tangled up on your question. It's not a DDO. And "doubling" on this coin is simply a consequence of the strike.

The obverse was struck with a deteriorating, well worn die, hence the rim ridge ring clearly visible

Worn die = ridge ring, die crack on obverse and doubled second 5 which is referred to as a "Poorman's Doubled Die". But not a true doubled die, just a nick name.

You can see the start of the Doubled Die as this coin shows the beginning of the poor man's Doubled Die.

Is my use of DD as die deterioration incorrect? I'm sorry if it is...:banghead:

That's strike doubling. The DDO didn't happen gradually from strike doubling.
