    Hello all...

I think that I've learned (by lurking here of course) that these things are not very rare and therefor not valuable but I thought I'd share anyway.

The 8 in the date is really light and there is a U missing on the back.

Thoughts and comments would be great.

Could be a weak stike but I'll let the experts "weigh in".....:)

I was thinking grease filled dye...but like you said we'll wait on the experts.

That what I would think it is a grease fill die or a worn die:kewl:

I have pretty much exact same... mine has what looks like a weak strike on the 8th as well as many of the letters around the edge/ rim of the coin are the same way they get to be less prominent the closer you get to the edge it's on the front and the back on mine on the back United States of are all weak towards the rim on the front the 8 , in & we are VERY weak & the LIBE are the same with the TY pushed up against the outer rim of the coin but not a weak strike...

Wow all that. Too bad we can’t return these defects to the Mint and get our money back or at least a decent coin.

Photos would help but it sounds like a greaser. This thread is over 13 years old so best to start a new thread yourself.
