A user suggested this site to me as a good site to buy coins.Anyone else have any info if this is a liable site or not?
I used to buy from them a lot. That is until they only sent half an order the last time and wouldn't either send the other half, which they said they couldn't locate, or refund half my money. Aside from that, they seem ok. Guy~
Yes, it is a good site to buy from, but they no longer sell coins. They probably still have some "closeouts" on coins, but all they are now selling is bullion.
I have purchased a bit.. Buy enough to make the shipping worth it, Junk Bulk Silver ..but you can find that local. 2009 1 oz Gold Buffalo Coins - **MS-70** PCGS (First Strike) on the site now at 1316.00 1922 No D Fine-15 Weak Reverse - PCGS (.01) They sell coins.. I I have thought about a bag of small cents from them.. Nut didn't know how "unsearched" they may be
Great site, horrible tacked on fees(ie shipping/fees for using a credit card). Plus if you live in CA or NY, the sales tax. That's why I don't order from them.
I have bought many thousands of dollars of bullion from Apmex. I trust them to deliver, and they have. That said, I would be cautious of buying slabbed coins from them, and would prefer sight-seen transactions when dealing with these numismatic items. But for buying bullion, they are first rate. Hope this helps...Mike
I bought a PCGS MS62 $5 1901-S gold half eagle from them. Was pleasantly surprised with the coin, has good luster, and a thick golden skin. They are good in my book.
Just in case someone missed it, here is a post by dmccarty. From dmccarty profile About dmccarty Location Edmond, OK Occupation APMEX Director of Marketing
I think im the one who said buy from them in the first place, but ill say it again. ive had the BEST deals from them on bullion. way lower then my local guy even before tax.
kudegras, rlm's cents - It's true that we are discontinuing numismatics, but we still have tens of thousands of coins in our inventory. And like we said when we made the announcement, we'll still carry silver dollars, pre-1933 gold and a few other select numismatic items. BNB Analytics - We DO NOT charge tax to CA or NY. The only state where we charge sales tax is in OK, where we are physically located. I don’t know why you would have been charged any sales tax for CA or NY. You can PM me and I will look into it deeper for you. coleguy - Please PM me about the problem you had with your order. I want to know what happened and plan to go to customer service about it.
Thanks, Dave. Message sent. And I have to back you up on that, I've never been charges tax in CA from APMEX. I wouldn't say that. I believe it to be an honest mistake. I've bought from them many times before and never had any problems at all. I've bought from them since this happened, as a matter of fact. Guy~
Ok then maybe I was wrong about the sales tax. But, those other fees are just plain insane!! There's no way I can do business with you guys for small items when those taxes are imposed regardless of what you have to pay the credit card companies or what not.. I was just about to order 50 oz of silver from you guys the other night and saw my total hit at least $1,018 and I'm like, what! I can get this for $980 shipped on ebay. Anyway, i've done business with you all before, just saying.. I don't know how much longer I can stand those taxes.
Just to update my experience with the missing coin. Talked to Dave and within a week I had the coin in the mail. Like I've mentioned, I've never had a problem up to that point and hadn't had one since. Just wanted to share the fact that the issue was resolved and everyone is happy. Guy~
I've bought rolls of ASEs and Canadian Maple leafs with a $10 S&H&I charge to get here in Ca.--NO TAX charged. Sealed mint tubes, how can you beat that. I've gone back there to buy and feel good and secure about dealing with them. Bruce
Thanks for the update Coleguy. I'm glad to know that we made it "right". That is what we strive for always, but being human, sometimes, stuff happens and we have to circle back with extra effort to get it correct! Thanks again for the post!!!
It's been my experience that 99% of PM dealers charge for use of CC's, they work off small margins and a 3% fee would eat away at profits, thus CASH buyers would end up paying more..."passing the buck" so to say!
