I know that what I see can't be but let's just say for information purposes how much would a 1943 steel wheat cent over a 1938 buffalo nickel be worth? I know it's not possible... just a hypothetical. Would it be worth anything?
Say that everyone who puts it in there hand sees it... both sides of coin. Without magnification, the images have been identified before I had a chance to tell them what I see. I mean hypothetically thats what happens because its not possible after all. But estimate a value as if it were "real"... any info or opinions is all I am asking hypothetically of course
First of all, the Buffalo nickel would not fit in the Lincoln Cent collar which surrounds the coin when it is struck. Therefore I can’t see how you would get an image of the cent on both sides of the coin. The only way the nickel could have gotten into the wartime cent planchet bin would have been if someone intentionally put it there. Anything is possible, but this does not seem likely. if this exists, it’s much more than likely that it was made outside of the mint. Without photos, there is really no way to comment in a constructive way about the merits of this item.
Ok. Thats all I wanted was a few opinions. Pictures aren't going to do any justice because I can't take pictures to save my life lol.
I know. No worries. I really just wanted to know if anyone could put a value on such a coin had it existed.
All I see is a normal, slightly rusty, wartime cent. If this had been struck on a nickel planchet, it would not be perfectly round, and would not be rusting like this.
We are not going to put a value on such a coin. With or without pictures. You need to send it to a TPG to get a market grade on such a piece. Speculation leads people to list such things on EBay with statements such as "worth thousands of dollars as stated on Coin Talk!"
I wasn't asking for an appraisal. I was just asking if such a coin did exist would it be of any value. Sorry if I caused any confusion.
