There are so many favorite coins, old and modern. This is one I particularly like because it was the prototype of the first US silver dollar

 

I just thought it would be interesting to note that this coin also bears the origin of the term "two bits" for a quarter dollar. The Spanish Milled Dollar used to be cut into eighths each one having the equivalent silver value of twelve and a half cents called a "bit". When two were spent together (two bits) it amounted to a quarter of a Spanish Milled Dollar.

Grand father got me started in coin collecting age 10. Searched change built up nice common collection. Over last 25 years most coins purchased directly from mint, proof, unc sets, in silver, gold and platium.
Grandfather passed on left me only one coin from his large collection. Lincoln 1909 S VDB RD 64. This coin holds special place in my heart.

 

Reduce the size of the picture under 250K and re-attach it. That looks like a beauty.

Love that half penny Ryan. Actually everyone has attached nice coins.

We will just have to wait and see what BNB's new 3-legger is going to be.

From the pics of the 1896-S, it looks cleaned, is this the case, looking at it in hand?

 

Ok, ok, I'll go again. I haven't really had this one long enough to know if it's one of my favorites or not, but it is one of the better toned peace dollars I've been able to aquire. Seems most want to tone a crummy shade of dirt brown.

Yes, could be over exposing with out a doubt... All the other marks that can be seen very well, are on the slab, on his other two coins.
I've over exposed coins like that before, with the flash, making them appear to be cleaned, but his coin looks to have hairlines, that can be seen, and the color is bright, for a VG10.

I could never do that to a fellow member here. I'll suffer with it.
It's really a fun coin. At every change in angle or lighting it takes on a new look. The image belongs to Mark Feld and he was nice enough to let me use it.

 

To be honest with you stainless, it's not what it seems.
Take a strong look at the image. It's a cool coin to learn from.
I used the lighting to blow out the fields and the devices and that brought out the color. It also hid the harsh cleaning it once had.
It's interesting what you can hide with an image.
As Doug said "Know your dealer".
