    Hey all,

Got this little guy in the mail today, really nice details and variant. I’m thinking AUs but haven’t seen this error coin this grade before on eBay so couldn’t help myself but to splurge lol.

That’s the number I’m stuck on as from looking at other graded Coronet heads through PCGS.

AU55-58, That is an AMAZING looking coin!:woot::jawdrop: If you don't mind me asking, what did it cost? If you'd rather not say that's totally fine, I was just curious;)

Grading old copper gets strange when you let the EAC people take a look.
That 1824 large cent I bought at the EAC sale is in an XF-45 BN NGC slab but EAC graded it only VF-30.
Since I'm an EAC member I really need to learn their grading.
I've got the general idea but have to learn the specifics.

This beautiful lady will be listed this weekend, and I always post my listings on our forum board in hope one of you get it because I know you guys will take care of it as it should. I’m still learning grading for large cents but I do think it comes out to be anywhere from 55-58. With everyone’s answers I may finally be catching on!

Catching on to use people's free opinion so you can flip this coin? You want to be a dealer, do the work yourself. This one is on the house but I don't think you will make a career out of having people grade your coins for free so you can sell them for a profit.

I agree. That little bit about asking the grade and then mentioning that it was going up for sale gave me a bad taste in my mouth.

The scratch below the wreath might keep it from straight grading. Very nice example though.

You are free to feel how you want. I am not doing this to make money this is something I do on the side of my work and barely make any money on it, I’m usually losing money if you care enough to make this comment. I think it’s great to get all sorts of awesome coins in my hand and pass them along to other collectors. And if you’ve seen my posts you know just about every coin I post about I sell on my eBay store and I like to ask the others their opinion on it to share a cool piece why I have it in my possession and start up some good conversation, seems to make each coin a bit cooler especially when I learn a little something I didn’t know before. Sorry how I worded it if it offended you, had a few drinks and was being a little to friendly I guess. But please feel free to skip any of my future posts.

    best regards,
    Travis.

No problem, I will skip your posts that seem to be made to turn a profit as I hope everyone else does as well. It would have been different if you said I think this is a 53, what do you think? But you said you were "splurging" to buy this. Buying a coin to flip is not splurging, a term which implies you are stretching a little to acquire something you normally wouldn't because of the cost. There is no shame in buying and selling coins, just be up front about it. There is a buy/sell forum just for that purpose. Peace out.

I use the buy and sell forum as needed. I use this forum when I have a coin I seem to be very interesting and would like to learn more about it or just share it. This one I thought was AU but wasn’t sure where at and wanted to see what others thought. No matter what others thought won’t change how much the coin will sell for? The coin will go for what it does. And I splurged on it because I thought it was a cool coin, please remember I usually lose money on most sales and I’m doing this for fun. I see what you mean though I will keep my sale comments out of this forum, that was my mistake. But thank you for your advice friend.

    Take care,
    Travis

No kidding. I was an EAC member for quite a while, and I just got tired of their "grading". I tried to figure it out, but was never successful at understanding how they came up with the "EAC grades". It all really seemed to be the opinion of the EAC guys who thought of themselves as being better than others. I'll stick with the ANA guide or the TPGs. Well, PCGS and NGC for sure.
