He says that "everything" has been"discover" and I told him. ..maybe not 1972 1c ...lol could it be a new thing,? Just saying the 9 points different and the 7 looks different also the number 1 is aligned different on both coins...and the mint Mark is way out of line lol
Your just seeing things and the mint mark can be in all different types of places around the date because they were still hand punched into the die by people.
The coins were made by 2 different dies and with the stain it just appears to be different. Welcome to CT.
@Mariahfox. Read the article on this site: https://www.lincolncentforum.com/1972-master-die-doubling/ It discusses 2 known master dies for the 1972 Cent including the difference in the dates.
I forgot which CT member has the program to overlay coins. I'd like to see these lined up in that overlay. It's a photograph, so I can't say there's something going on there, but I do see what @Mariahfox is talking about also. Don't be so quick to castigate her and chase her away with unnecessary rude comments.
I think (but am not sure) @justafarmer did the overlays. 100% agreement with your last sentence. Sometimes people forget when they were starting out. Maybe they're having a silly moment because they're usually not rude.
It wasn't Rude. It was a joke . Everytime I've made a comment , you have shot me down since October . Jerk , Ignore, AGAIN !
Denver punched out 2,665,071,400 of these. If you calculate one die pair for every 100,000 cents made there would have been 2,665 die pairs. I think they went waaayy past that. So, say 200,000 per die pair you still have 1,332 die pairs or so. All of these die pairs wear down differently during production runs, hence the differences you see...jmho...Spark
