The 2nd lowest mintage of the Walking Liberty Half Dollar series. Just 246,000 minted so this is one of them. This was also in the junk silver pricing mini hoard that I purchased. As I said in my first thread on these, I was surprised.

Definitely a G-4, maybe even a 6 but not an VG-8 by any stretch of the imagination. My Red Book Has a G-4 value of $175.00 and I know that's high. After all, the Red Book is just a guide, right? I'd place the value around $100.00 myself.

Not bad for junk pricing. And then there's all the other Walkers to go with this one.

    Hello Collecting Nut,
    My Sad 1921-D Walker Story:
I use to help this elderly lady with her lawn work about 25 years back & we became trusted friends. She had a coin collection inwhich resided this beautiful 1921-D walker. It had a light splotchy tone, but definitely AU-50+.
She promised me I could have it for my collection one day, but before that occurred she had a stroke and her grasping daughter-in-law swooped down and moved her lock, stock, & barrel (and 1921-D walker) back to her home in Corpus Christi…I’m fairly sure she ended up selling the whole collection to a local pawn shop, not knowing any coin values.
That coin is valued at $5K+ even with the toning.
    True, but awful story,
    J.T.

The key to the entire series. I'm sure you are correct and sorry that happened to you but like most families, money is more important than what the person wanted.

Heck, did you try writing to her...? She/her daughter-in-law likely had forwarded her mail...maybe said something like, besides hope you're getting better, etc..."I forgot to collect that...half-dollar you mentioned to me...my address and phone number is..." It might have been worth a try.

    Thanks Mac,
But this happened 15 years ago and all contact was lost. The elderly lady (Catherine) died shortly after the move, along with her son...Very strange happenings and one I was glad not to be apart of. I do miss Catherine though, as she was a sweety

I have to say I am really enjoying your half dollar posts. As I am just getting into the series it is nice to appreciate how they wear and just the general appearance of them, so thanks for posting. It has been helpful and enjoyable.

Thank you. It's a beautiful coin to begin with and after circulation, even with wear like mine are, it's still a beautiful coin. At least I think so. Compare the west on other coins and you'll probably agree.

I got a little over $25.00 face and all the ones, including this one and a few more that I'll post this week, were on the lot. I paid junk value for them which has turned out to be a tremendous value. That dealer really made a mistake but it was years ago.

I'd like to have one of those. The Walkers are some of the most beautiful American coins, in any condition. It's my dad's birth year. But obtaining 1921 silver of any kind except for Morgan dollars is pricey to expensive.

The Red Books G-4 value is at $175 in my book. This is a G-6 coin and it has the second lowest mintage in the series. Yes, it gets pricy.

This is similar to my walker story back in august. I got the 21 and 21s for $10 each. Since then I purchased the 21d for $300 so I have all the 21’s for $320

Not a bad deal by any means. That '21-D is a pricy coin. Not trying to one up you but I got all 3 for a lot less. All in a junk silver pile that I bought a few years ago.

No offense taken. I know I’m not the only one to find 21’s in the junk pile

I have a full set of Walker's. Back in 1980 while in PA. I stopped at a local coin shop. The owner had a complete set of Walker's in the full head for four k, at the time I could not afford them. Today I have no idea of the value.
