My grandfather found a Lincoln Penny Set for a Dollar...

Included with this set was the:
    1943 (Steel)
    1943-S (Steel)
    1943-D (Steel)

Circulated, the whole album is probably worth a few dollars. The steel cents are neat but they aren't worth more than a few cents each.

the steal cents aren't worth a lot of money maybe a couple of dollars on ebay at the most. But there may be some coins in the set that are worth something could you list everything in the set dated before 1940

It looks like a set from 1941 to 1958 in a Whitman album. I've got a few complete sets. Since the album costs about $5 and the coins are about $5, I would think it would be worth $10. If you try to sell it, you would probably get only a few dollars. I would keep it.

Like Air, Food & Carnal Satisfaction they may not be unusual but highly desirable, esp if you do not have any.

Consider them to be precious but not esp. valuable.....unless you find someone that has none.

Other coins in the collection may have higher value but they are "required".

you would be correct. It is a Whitman album from 1941 to 1975 (LISTED) When we bought it the people filled in some blanks on it...they filled in 1958 -1970 and then there are a few years after that that are incomplete of S's and D's...

nice set. I would have bought that for $1 myself. Heck I would have paid $5 for it and I already have one. One interesting thing I noticed about your album is, unlike mine, the coins are listed P,S,D respectively. All the albums I have seen, mostly Whitman albums, list these coins in the P,D,S order. Not that it matters but it is kind of interesting. What company manufactured your album?

I hadn't noticed that...but you are correct. It sure looks like a Whitman album, but I will bet it's a really old one.

I believe that this Album was made in 1957. All dates before 1957 have listed on how many were made. 1957 does not list how many of that year and type were made. Nor does it continue past that date. The ones listed past 1957 were written in underneath and placed in the extra spots.

Wow, that is an old folder. Does is say who and where it was manufactured (ie Whitman Co. Raccine WI)?

Yeah, it sounds like it was made in 1957 or 1958...right thereabout. The album I had since I started collecting in the late 1990s has mintage's through 1995 but printed dates through 1997, so it's safe to say that one was made around 1996-97. So, my guess is yours was made in the 1957-58 range.

    it says:

    Copyright 1949
WHITMAN PUBLISHING COMPANY - RACINE, WISCONSIN
no. 9030 - Made in USA

    that's all it says...

I have two Whitman books with the same information but the title is 1941 to 1974. It also includes three spaces for varieties. My other book says starting in 1941 and only has dates to 1970S with spaces that I filled with coins up to 1975. It was probably made in 1970 while the other two were made after 1974.

    The cover of mine states:

    LINCOLN HEAD CENT
    Collection Starting 1941
    Number Two

    No. 9030

    lol...

Yes, it is the same as my one book that was probably manufactured in 1970. If you look at the edge of your book, does it say "9030-39" on the bottom? My other books made after 1974 just say "9030".

Copyright 1949. Wow, that's an old folder. Probably printed shortly after the first Red Book was printed. Older than many of the coins contained within it when you bought it. What a neat conversation piece for $1.

Well regardless, it's old, it's complete, and it's cool. Have you considered picking up the 1909-1940 album and working on filling it up. I recently completed mine. I can tell you that while it's challenging, it's worth it.

Actually...my boyfriend has that one completely filled lol. I just recently found out that he has an avid coin collection as well lol.
