Does this look like an MS66

    Not really.

    Wouldn't matter either way anyways as that strike is typical for ikes especially from the early years so no it wouldn't hold back the grade

    The opening post coin seems to have a lot of luster. The TPGs often give the grade a boost for that, and discount the marks. Also the grader might think that some of the marks were on the planchet before the coin was struck and not flattened out by the dies.

    I am not defending the assigned grade. I would not pay MS-66 money for this piece. I am pointing out what seems to influence the graders.

    Honestly I don’t know but these things are just like really big Jefferson nickels if you think about it and that’s why for the most part they’re always a little on the dingy side. But that’s understood I think by the graders.
