Lucky dude scored a whole roll of 1878 CC dollars....yeah right. These are counterfeits: http://shop.ebay.com/tang4269/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_from=&_ipg=&_trksid=p4340 Nightowl
He never indicated he found a roll. In fact he has only shown that there is a single coin. There are multiple listings, but only one picture.
A little tongue in cheek. Have you no sense of humor? He was up to 15 fake 78CCs when I posted this, and now he's listing 1878-S minted ones...lots of those too. Nightowl
BTW, he used the same photo for all the 1878-S's - that is the 1878-CC photo. He is now listing 1878-O's (????), but he changed his picture to an 1878-.
So I did.....sorry. I won't buy from a stock photo. I'm glad that they are at least making an attempt to put a stop to that. I wonder who would command enough respect to be taken seriously by the FBI? I think they should pay this guy a visit. Nightowl
The most glaring thing is the size of the lettering in E Pluribus Unum, and the digits in the date are all wrong. The eye is cut too deeply. Probably more differences than that...but I'm not looking at it right now. Those are things I remember offhand. Look at a slabbed Morgan...PCGS or NGC, and compare the 2 side by side. Nightowl
If you really feel they are counterfeit, I hope you have reported them. So far he has sold 9 of them. I have reported him for using stock photos, but they will not get pulled until tomorrow and that may (or may not) include the items sold.
I reported them before I started this thread. They're not going to take one person's word for it though. They make money from sellers, so they have no incentive to stop it. Nightowl
eBay has pulled every one of them including the ones he sold last night. Now all we have to do is watch for relisting them.
