Hello everyone. I found some old silver coins. Most aren't in the best of shape but I'm sure there must be a couple winners in the lot. Scan over them and let me know what ones catch your eye. I will provide additional photos as needed. Have fun and thanks.
wow nice old bunch I can only say the 1935 dime is worth melt and let's see the reverses for those barbers.
Woah, love those early American coinage designs. Just to let you know, some of those coins aren’t silver. (The V and shield nickels.) Do you have a red/blue book?
This one from your pictures looks similar to those of the Ottoman Empire or other Islamic States. Any ancient coin buffs looking at this thread can identify this one?
Wow... all quite nice. I've got some SLQs but I don't have the 1917, either type. And yours is in very good shape.
That 1883 NC Nickel has an interesting story behind it. (I personally like coin stories). If you're not familiar with it, look up "Racketeer Nickel."
Hahahaha. I've got a plated one. Only thing is... I don't know whether it's a "real" Racketeer Nickel or is a contemporary plating. The nickel is in BU condition, so I guess it's a real Racketeer Nickel because it would be worth much more unplated otherwise.
Just the other night, I was watching an episode of the Beverly Hillbillies where Milburn Drysdale was trying to get Jed to take up a hobby. He show Jed a cardboard tri-fold album of Barber Dimes with an 1894-S..."worth $12,000". It would be cool if you came across one of those! I'm fond of the obsolete denominations (3¢/20¢ pieces).
No O's on the barbers still there and the rest of those coins are nice. The coins aren't going to get you rich thats a mistake which is why some people coin collect and have to learn the hard way.
I rarely buy individual coins unless I really really like them. I am a treasure hunter so I buy large lots and enjoy searching through the collections. My style may not mesh with others collecting styles. but it keeps me entertained and I rarely get bored. I guess it's the thrill of the hunt for me.
I posted the Flying Eagles and several unknown coins over in the "Old Worn Coins" thread since they aren't silver
I just posted better photos of that one in the "Old Worn Coins" thread along with several other unknown coins.
I like the Twenty Cent pieces. Still haven't pulled the trigger on one for my type set. On my bucket list.
