Thanks Kent, I almost didn't buy it because of the planchet mark. But, like I said, you just don't see these very often, in fact this is the nicest one I've seen in about 5 years.

    Morgan dollar roll...

Found this BU roll of 1904-O Morgans with one missing....and a 1923 Peace Dollar thrown in. They were just too reasonable to pass up.

Sold a roll of 1921s....and added 72 dollars (counting eBay fees for the 21s) to fund this roll. Much nicer to stash this than a bunch of 21s, some of which were cleaned and had minor problems.

Way to go! That's incredible that you got that much for it. Sometimes coin values don't make much sense to me. I can't imagining spending more than a couple hundred bucks for any coin that's been made in the past 40 years when there are so many nice type coins that are much more rare you could pick up instead. Congratulations on the sale.

    My Latest Purchase

Here is my latest ebay bargain. Eventhough it is a 1976-s T1 that had a standard peg leg R in liberty. Look at the small R this one has. Not bad for $5.99 and Free shipping

Only joking... Congrats on the rare find?

Looks like a nice set, the 1847 appears to be cleaned as well, judging form scans, post some pics via your camera, would love to see em' for what they really are!
    Congrats

I'll post pictures when this one gets here. My 1850 should be back any day. I was told that it was communicated to my dealer that "it was in quality control" (at NGC) on tuesday.

Flatbed scans are very critical, and while I can see heavy handed polishing on both of the peace dollars, I am not sure on the other 3 coins. I used to sell using scans from a flatbed scanner....so I've seen a bunch of them.

I don't think it would take much wear or cleaning to lose the die crack on the reverse since it's so fine. Here's a close up of another coin produced from the same reverse die, but a little earlier than my specimen.

My latest. I liked the toning a lot on this. I've had a hard time finding Peace dollars with toning that was anything other than brown or a sludgy yellow/rust. My pics don't do this much justice, but it does capture a little of the golds and magenta. The reverse is mostly bright white except for around the rims where some of the gold is starting to form.

Need some help here. Why do I keep getting "Upload file failed" when I try to upload a photo to a post using the Manage Attachments button. Are my photo sizes too large? If so how do you edit the size down to 250 kb? I have a lot of photos to share but I am lost and technologically challenged.

Here's another one I wanted to share. It's kind of hard to see, but this coin has beautiful toning on it.
